About Me

I was born in Lille, France, in 1970, from African descent. I grew up watching movies from around the world. Instead of learning to speak English through school, I did it from films broadcast by TV channels and first by Canal+, a French movie channel that showed only sports and movies from all over the world, when it started in 1984. I started recording movies and buying new or used books, and ended up with a huge movie and book collection.

Apart of writing, reading and watching films, I also enjoy watching sports on TV, especially football (soccer) and tennis. Even if I'm not a great social networker, I also love surfing on the Internet and listening to music from YouTube. I'm a rather good tennis table player. My personal heroes are Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Barack Obama, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Jean Moulin, Jacques Chirac. I remember, when I was a teenager I was a great fan of an animated TV series called Princess Sarah and I guess I still am. This series, about a rich and sweet little girl who turns poor after the death of her father, is from Japan but is set in London. Curiously it's not available in English.

As a movie fanatic I'm fond of artists like film writers/directors Stanley Kubrick, Charlie Chaplin, Sergio Leone, Michael Cimino, Michael Mann, John Carpenter, Spike Lee, Francis Coppola, Quentin Tarantino, Sam Peckinpah, and actors Robert DeNiro, Charlie Chaplin, Edward Norton.

The books I love come from Jim Thompson, Horace McCoy, J.G. Ballard, Philip K. Dick, James Herbert, Julia Verlanger.
My favorite music is from the Pink Floyd, Kate Bush, Diana Ross, Massive Attack, Serge Gainsbourg, Public Enemy, Ennio Morricone, Keith Kenniff.

As you can see I can be considered 'old-fashioned' since all my influences come from the 20th century. My opinion is, almost every commercial thing that is done today is just recycling.

I currently live in London, where I continue to write screenplays and novels in both English and French.
